Long time supporter and mostly silent viewer here. During the contest for the coat drive I shared the link to vote from my Facebook page.
Today out of the blue, I got a message from someone I do not know. She found my name from the link I shared to vote for FDDR in the contest.
This woman found an old Singer sewing machine out for the trash. (She re-purposes old things.) The sewing machine had paperwork from 1925. Also, tucked in a drawer was a letter my dad had written to my grandparents while he was serving in the Army during WW2. (1944) She attached a photo of the envelope. I was shocked to see my dad's handwriting pop up on my messenger. He passed away in 1999. Then I looked closer, the dates, the address, the postage mark, airmail. Wow! Can you just imagine what was going on in my head?
The woman did online research through obituaries and found my dads. Through that she found my name, and when she googled it, she came up with my name associated to that link for the contest. And now, come tomorrow she will be mailing me the letter. And that is why I am crediting FDDR with re-uniting myself and a letter written by my dad 75 years ago!
